Hello! It has been a dream of mine to create a webpage for students and parents as another means of communication. I have been fortunate to have your child in my class, therefore, I am very excited to share with you a little about myself, both personally and professionally.
This is my sixth year of teaching and my second year in Wrangell. Prior to Wrangell, I was in the Northwest Arctic. Yes, that's right, I was 30 miles above the Arctic Circle. I lived in a small, Inupiaq village and truly enjoyed my time there. Now, living and teaching in Wrangell is a dream come true for me. I feel as though this is my chance to give back to the community that has done so much for me.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher at a very young age. It is something that I do whole heartedly and have a lot of passion for. As your child's teacher, I hope to motivate and encourage your child to reach his/her highest potential. We have had a fantastic year so far, and I look forward to working with you to ensure your child gets the best education possible.
On a more personal note, I am married to Jon (Cornelius), who is originally from California. He is a merchant mariner, working for the Alaska Marine Highway. He is the 2nd mate on the Tustumena, in Southwest Alaska. We are proud parents of our black lab puppy, Bella. She keeps me company when he is gone, and she is the perfect companion for the both of us. The other love of our life is our nieces and nephews. We are fortunate to have one so close (1 mile away!!!), but we do our best to see and communicate (Yeah for Skype!) with the other nine as much as possible. Jonny and I love the outdoors and we have a passion for traveling.
